Description
Pulling Power in a Toolbox
The Warrior Trojan is a 4,000 lb (1,814 kg) portable electric winch that goes anywhere you do. The whole rig — winch, motor, controls and recovery kit — lives in a single composite carry-box, ready to deploy in minutes. No installation, no permanent mount, no winch bumper required. Lift it out of the boot, secure the supplied straps to your anchor point, plug into a 12V battery, and pull.
Built for the Boot, Tough Enough for the Trailer
Powered by a reversible 12V permanent-magnet motor (2.4 kW input / 1.0 kW output) driving through a 166:1 planetary gearbox, the Trojan delivers serious pulling power at a manageable 19 kg dry weight. The integrated ¼-inch hardened steel base plate can also be bolted down to a trailer or fixed structure if you want a more permanent setup — same winch, same kit, two ways to use it.
A Complete Recovery Kit, In the Box
Everything you need for a recovery is supplied:
- 5 mm × 15 m synthetic rope with clevis hook — lighter, safer, and easier to handle than wire rope
- 6,000 lb hook-style pulley block for double-line pulls
- Three 14,000 lb D-shackles
- Two 2.4 m (8 ft) heavy-duty straps rated to 8,000 lb
- Heavy-duty leather-palmed winch gloves
- 3.8 m (12.5 ft) wired hand remote
- Quick-connect battery cable with alligator clips
- Operator's manual
Wired Remote Control
The supplied 3.8 m wired remote keeps you well clear of the cable under tension. A free-spool clutch lets you pull rope out by hand without dragging the motor, and the drum has built-in automatic braking — load won't pay back out when the motor stops.
3-Year Warranty as Standard
Every Trojan is backed by a full 3-year manufacturer's warranty (Warrior's non-industrial range classification).
Why Synthetic Rope?
Lighter – Synthetic rope weighs roughly 80% less than equivalent steel cable, making the whole kit easier to carry and deploy single-handed.
Safer – If synthetic rope breaks under load it falls to the ground. Steel cable can recoil violently. This is the headline reason most off-roaders switch.
Easier on hands – No metal burrs or splinters; easier to handle even without gloves (though they're supplied).
Floats – Useful for boat launches and any water-recovery situation.
Repairable – Frayed sections can be cut back and re-end-spliced. Steel cable usually means full replacement.
Layer-by-Layer Pull Capacity
The 4,000 lb rating is the first-wrap capacity. As rope builds up on the drum, the effective pulling power drops. Worth knowing before a heavy pull:
- Layer 1 (first wrap): 4,000 lb (1,814 kg) — 2.6 m of rope spooled
- Layer 2: 3,351 lb (1,520 kg) — 5.7 m spooled
- Layer 3: 2,883 lb (1,307 kg) — 9.1 m spooled
- Layer 4 (full drum): 2,530 lb (1,147 kg) — 12.8 m spooled
For pulls above 70% of rated capacity, Warrior recommend using the supplied pulley block to convert to a double-line pull — halving the load on the rope and giving you back a layer or two of capacity.
Line Speed and Amp Draw
At 12V on the single (first) layer:
- No load: 4.4 m/min, 28 A draw
- 1,000 lb pull: 3.0 m/min, 80 A draw
- 2,500 lb pull: 2.2 m/min, 150 A draw
- 4,000 lb pull (rated): 1.5 m/min, 190 A draw
190 A is a serious continuous draw, so size your battery and cabling accordingly. A battery isolator is strongly recommended.
Important — Setup and Safety
The Trojan ships ready to use — no fluids or assembly required, just connect to a 12V battery. Always maintain at least 5 wraps of rope on the drum when in use, and never use the carry-box handle as an anchor point. Full safety procedures are in the operator's manual.
All Warrior Trojan winches comply with EN 14492-1, EN 60204-1, EN ISO 12100, EN ISO 3744 and EN IEC 61000-6-2/-4. CE and UKCA certified. Specifications correct at time of publication and may be altered without notice in the interest of technical improvement.
