Storm Amy Is Gone… But Not Forgotten
Storm Amy may have passed, but it left its mark – fallen trees, flooded roads, power outages, and a whole lot of calls for roadside help. For recovery crews, it was a rough week. Gear got pushed to its limits. Some bits held up well. Others didn’t.
At Recovery and Winch, we’ve seen this all before. But what stood out this time was just how many people got caught out. Straps that were fine last month suddenly gave way. Jump packs weren’t charged. Winches jammed under pressure. And while most of the country focused on the weather warnings, those of us in recovery knew the real storm would come when the phones started ringing.
That’s why now – in this brief calm – is the time to get ahead. We don’t know when Storm Bram will hit, but we do know it’s on the list. And when it does arrive, the last thing you want is to be scrambling for parts or relying on gear you haven’t checked since last winter.
If you haven’t looked at your kit since before Amy, ask yourself the basics: Is your winch running smoothly? Are your straps frayed or stiff from the cold? Do you have lighting that works in sideways rain? And – just as important – could you keep working during a power cut?
We’ve stocked up on everything you’ll need for the next storm. Our range of electric winches is ready to go, including our best-selling Stealth 13500lb model, which continues to be a customer favourite for good reason – solid power, wireless remote, and no-nonsense performance.

Our most popular winch – heavy-duty power, wireless remote, and rugged steel rope make it ideal for recovery in all weather.
View ProductFor recovery operators, our wheel straps and tie-downs are top sellers, and for good reason – they’re reliable, straightforward, and do the job.

One of our best value strap kits – includes 4 soft straps with claw hooks, perfect for enclosed transporters and general roadside use.

Our go-to choice for reliable jump starts – PowerStart booster packs are tough, compact, and ready to go when your van isn’t.
